WHY THIS IS PAKISTAN'S
GREATEST TREK

The Gondogoro La Pass & K2 Trek is widely regarded as the finest trekking circuit in the Karakoram — and one of the most spectacular high-altitude routes on Earth. While the standard K2 Base Camp Trek retraces its steps back down the Baltoro, this circuit goes further: over the 5,585m Gondogoro La, descending into the beautiful Hushe Valley for a complete loop through the heart of the Karakoram.

What sets this trek apart is the view from the pass itself. From the top of Gondogoro La, you stand at a natural amphitheatre surrounded by four of the world's fourteen 8,000m peaks — a sight available nowhere else on Earth. Add Concordia, K2 Base Camp, the Baltoro Glacier and traditional Balti villages, and this becomes a journey that defies comparison.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The best season is June to September. Mid-July to late August offers the most stable weather and best snow conditions for the pass crossing. Early June can have excessive ice on the Gondogoro La making the crossing dangerous. September is also good but weather windows become shorter. Our four 2026 departures are timed for optimal conditions.
The crossing itself is technically demanding — it involves a steep ascent on ice and snow requiring crampons, rope techniques and a 3am start for a full day crossing (10–11 hours). However, our experienced guides fix ropes and manage all technical aspects. You need to be physically fit, acclimatised and comfortable with high-altitude trekking. Prior experience above 4,000m is strongly recommended.
From the 5,585m summit of Gondogoro La you can see K2 (8,611m — the world's 2nd highest), Broad Peak (8,051m), Gasherbrum I / Hidden Peak (8,080m), Gasherbrum II (8,035m) and Laila Peak. No other location on Earth offers a view of four 8,000m peaks simultaneously from a trekking pass.
The 2026 price is $2,100 per person (down from the regular $2,700). A 30% deposit secures your spot — balance is due 60 days before departure. The price includes guides, porters, all meals on trek, camping equipment, Islamabad and Skardu hotels, domestic flights and all permits. International flights and travel insurance are not included.
Yes. You need a Karakoram National Park (CKNP) Baltoro trekking permit and zone permit. Broad Peak Adventures handles trekking permit arrangements on your behalf — permits are included in the package price except CKNP entry fee.
Yes, travel insurance is mandatory. Your policy must include medical coverage and helicopter evacuation at altitudes up to 6,000m. We recommend purchasing this well before departure. We will require proof of insurance before your trek begins. We can suggest appropriate providers if needed.
Our itinerary is carefully designed with gradual altitude gain and a full acclimatisation day at Urdukas (4,130m). Our guides are trained to recognise altitude sickness symptoms and make conservative safety calls. We carry a Gamow bag and emergency oxygen. Trekkers are advised to consult a doctor about Diamox (acetazolamide) before the trek.
Absolutely. Private departures are available any time from June through September. Groups of 2 or more can book a fully private guided expedition on their preferred dates. Contact us via WhatsApp or the enquiry form for custom dates and group pricing.
Gilgit-Baltistan is extremely welcoming and safe for international trekkers. The region has a well-established adventure tourism industry and thousands of international visitors trek here safely every year. Our guides are local Balti men who have lived and worked in these mountains their entire lives. The Karakoram trekking regions are among the most rewarding — and safest — adventure destinations in the world.
